Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 09/01/2010

Number: 1

Saw at least 2 monarch butterflies this afternoon. There could have been more, but it was hard to tell because of the way they were flying. I watched from about 3:00 to 3:30. Every once in awhile, one would fly around in a wide circle as if searching for something. Unfortunately not much blooming except for thistle which may be past its prime. Some sunflower type plants are just starting to bloom. I counted about 4 blossoms open and several more about to open. Goldenrod in our yard is just starting to bud. Some goldenrod has bloomed in spots around town. We got at least 2 inches of rain last night and this morning. It was sunny and about 78 degrees at the time I was watching. My observation time: I was watching for _0__ hours and _30__ minutes.
