Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 08/29/2010

Number: 1

Sunday afternoon I was looking at my milkweed gardens. I have 3 different varieties of milkweed planted. There were occasional monarchs flying by and landing on the milkweed leaves. I was able to take a picture of a female laying eggs. I collected over 30 larvae to take into our 7th grade life science class habitats to raise. The students will swab each adult butterfly for the OE parasite and send the samples to UGA and then they will tag each monarch before releasing it. My observation time: I was watching for 30 minutes.
