Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 09/01/2010

Number: 1

Lots of hummer activity today. I opened the curtain at 7:30am, and they were feeding. When I closed the curtain at 7:30 pm,I noticed them still around. I have males and females. One bully male guarded 2 feeders in one spot all day, feeding and just sitting on a twig. Females tried to feed, but he chased them away. I have window feeders, and the others were able to feed there. My 3 year old g.dtr spent the day with me today, and we watched all day. We tried to hold a feeder in our hand to feed. They buzzed very nearby, but would not feed from our hand. As soon as we hung the feeder back up, there they came to sip. She named the female hummer "Sugar," and I took a picture of her holding the feeder and send to friends. Everyone wanted to know if Sugar came to feed, what a fun adventure with my g.dtr.
