Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 09/01/2010

Number: 1

My last Monarch came out of its crysalis yesterday and left after its wings were ready to fly. It was a pretty good season as I found many crysalides either before or after the butterfly emerged, and over a dozen this last part of August. Not my best year fot the counting of caterpillars but not my worst year. Most of the crysalides were on the siding on the garage with 2 of them hanging up above the overhead door. That last one had to have crawled half way inside the garage and up a half partition wall by the steps to hang on a box that was there. We had to make sure it could get out when it was ready to fly. My observation time: I was watching for ___ hours and ___ minutes.
