This afternoon I saw one or two monarchs flying at every intersection between Onalaska, WI and West Salem, WI along US Hwy 16. I don't know how the monarchs can avoid getting struck by cars and trucks along busy roadways, but I didn't see any actually get hit today. When I got to my bluffside home, about a mile from the intersection of Cty Hwy OS and Marcou Rd., I watched one monarch nectaring on compass plant flowers in my yard. Then I saw another monarch flying southwest in continuous flight above the mature trees present on my property. My observation time: I was watching for ___ hours and ___ minutes.
