Monarch Fall Roost

Date: 09/02/2010

Number: 200

I noticed a lot of monarch butterflies flying around our yard today. Around 5:30pm I just happened to look out a west facing window and saw a large gathering of monarchs on the lower branches of our tamarack tree. It was an amazing sight! I took several photos as more and more gathered. By sunset, they were resting peacefully in the tree. I hope they are still there in the morning.
