Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 09/03/2010

Number: 1

This morning I observed a male and female hummingbird "dancing" around one of my feeders. They did try to drive each other away from the feeder, but they were hovering, not "dive bombing" each other more often than not. Occasionally they would both land and briefly feed before resuming their flight. This went on for over 15 minutes. The male is now visiting the feeder alone, and the female appears to have taken over the front yard feeder. I believe the male must be a transient, as he is significantly larger than the tiny male who has terrorized all the other hummers in the yard this summer.
