A female hummingbird was perched on the shepherd's crook that supports the feeder when I first looked this morning. She drank from first one port, then another before flying away.
I have observed that the hummingbirds generally vanish from this area during the week following Labor Day, and I seldom see any after that, other than an occasional transient bird.
