Monarch PEAK Migration

Date: 09/03/2010

Number: 1

Multitudes of magnificent Monarchs methodically meandering on the Mexican migration. 7:30pm, 60 degrees, winds 15 mph out of the NW. Stepping out to the deck, there were dozens of Monarchs drifting in and out of the tops of the whispering, sunkissed pines, visible in one sighting. This went on until dusk, about 45min. It may be that we're on the back of a low pressure system, or that the migration path has once again swung over our area, or the population is significantly up. Whatever it is, in the last 1-2 weeks, we are experiencing a migration unseen in close to a decade. A sore neck tomorrow, but well worth it. billiam My observation time: I was watching for ___ hours and ___ minutes.
