Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 09/03/2010

Number: 1

In about two weeks, the RTHumming Bird migration here on the middle of the Texas coast should peak. Altus took four more feeders out into the yard at sundown tonight to double the number we have and refilled the others. We have been having RT's, more adult males the last few days, a couple of Rufous, usually a female and an immature male, and for two days we had a Buff-bellied. So far the five large Turk's Cap bushes have been a favorite, but they also are nectaring on the penta bed and curassavica bed ... the feeders act as a dessert for some and the whole meal for others. A front made it to the coast today with a bit of rain and there was some "fall out" for a couple of hours.
