Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 09/03/2010

Number: 1

We still seem to have at least 7 Ruby Throated Humming Birds that swarm our 2 feeders. There are at least 2 handsome males and at least 5 females. There could be more. It is hard to count when they all swarm and chase each other away from the feeders. The girls seem to be the most vicious. We are having to refill the feeders just about every day now. My husband has taken photos and videos of them and he is amazed at how tolerant they are of his presence. I've been out on the deck to observe them and found the to almost miss my head as they chase each other away from the feeders. Their feeding seems to be faster and more furious now. Guess they are preparing to migrate. We will miss them. They just make me smile when I catch a glimpse of them through the window from my kitchen table.
