Signs of Fall

Date: 09/04/2010

Number: 1

Acrons falling off oak trees, and my flying squirrels have returned for the 4th year straight feeding on the acorns from my two 100 year old plus oaks at night gliding from one oak to the other making their chriping sounds. When the acorns are gone they stay till next spring eating sunflowers from my feeders at night along with my homemade suet I put into a homemade suet log for the birds during the day and refilling the log for the squirrels at night. Spotted first white wooley bear caterpillar in garden. During the day two chipmunks filling their pouches from my sunflower ground feeders storing them and returning for more. House wrens with their fledgings left two weeks ago. Grackels and red wing blackbirds left about 6 weeks ago. The grays, reds, and fox squirrels more pleniful then during the summer months eating the fallen acorns off the oaks and eating and fighting over my sunflower ground feeders. I feed squirrels year round I'd say they are spoiled they will not eat unsalted shelled peanuts they prefer sunflower seeds and if they get a peanut before the blue jays get them they will take them and bury them.
