11am CST, 67F, sunny, light breeze -- PERFECT Minnesota day! AND WOWEE!!! Today (drum roll....!) over 50 (yes 50) monarchs feeding on liatris on the front boulevard AND another 10-15 flitting through the yard, pausing on some bloomin wigelia, trees and dancing in the air...simply amazing...tomorrow forecast is similar so if these are newbies or passing through from canada...i think they'll be around yet for awhile...still don't know where they are roosting at night....we have a 3 story cypress in our side yard so for all i know...they could be right outside the bedroom windows! Anyway, for a total of 65+ monarchs...this is fantastic! a great thing for the holiday weekend...! pm from the butterfly garden boulevard in sunny south minneapolis My observation time: I was watching for ___ hours and ___20 minutes.

I just HAD to post again today...went outside and i couldn't believe it!!! OVER 45 monarchs feeding on the liatris and hovering in the yard and across the street. The word is out we have the best nectar in south Minneapolis. Its almost surreal to see this right here in the city...! No tattered wings, feeding on every blossom possible. Simply amazing...! Tomorrow just as beautiful a day so I think they'll be here for a bit longer...!! pm My observation time: I was watching for ___ hours and _20__ minutes.
