Monarch PEAK Migration

Date: 09/06/2010

Number: 1

we have never seen the Monarch migration in our area before. We are seeing many come from the North across Shawano Lake flying into the bay/wetlands area next to our house. This summer we have had an unusually high number of them in our area. They are flying low across the water. We have had high winds in the area for the past 4 days after a cool front has swung down from Canada. Today is calm and warmer - in the upper 60's now. I counted 47 in 5 minutes.... I studied monarchs last fall at the Navarino Wildlife Center. My observation time: I was watching for ___ hours and ___10 minutes.
