We were hiking on the Splash Dam Trail looking for birds, butterflies & wild flowers. We came to a open area by the water. It was about 2 or more acres of 2nd growth Common Milkweed. We fanned out & started counting the Monarch Caterpillars. Most were last instars big &fat. When we got to 103 we stopped counting. It was something none of us ever saw before.We were 3 happy hikers with this find.
