Monarch Fall Roost

Date: 09/05/2010

Number: 3000

Yesterday (9/5)the monarch began roosting in several trees on my parents farm. About a 1,000 were seen on crabapple tree today (9/6). All were roosting on the north side of property on several other trees as well. I would say we had a few thousand throughout all of the trees. This is the largest amount that has been observed on property. I have many beautiful pictures of the roosting for memories of this important event.

Editor’s Note: We are estimating 3000 monarchs based on observer’s estimate of “a few thousand.”
