I saw about 300 "early arrivals" or "sentrys" as I like to call them on Wednesday September 1. We usually see them around September 15th, followed by a massive number of overnight visitors around the 1st through 4th of October. They come each year at the same time and place, along a creek lined with large willow trees next to a pasture filled with milkweed. The Monarchs I observed were all feeding on the milkweed. I will report again this week when I return to our ranch in Fisher County Texas.
