Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 09/04/2010

Number: 1

Sat. Sept. 4 Kathy and I went to Uvalde from Utopia.
On the way south down 187 to Sabinal I saw a couple Monarchs,
southbound more or less. Then along Old Sabinal Rd which runs west to
Uvadle south of Hwy. 90, we saw 3 more Monarchs cross the road fairly
perpendicular southbound and on the move.

We saw a total of at least 10 Monarchs Sat. Sept. 4, after not seeing
any in the last two months. Besides a couple nectaring, all were
moving fast south or slightly west of that.

We just had a major frontal passage here that brought countless first
of fall bird records, including some record early records. I did not
see a Monarch around Utopia Sun. Sept. 5, but today Sept. 6 at Lost
Maples there were three, incl. one photo'd with a tear in a wing, as I
often see beat up migrants to possess.

The Saturday animals for sure at least seem to me to be migrant
Monarchs.
