Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 09/08/2010

Number: 1

Noon CST; low 70'sF, sunny, light breeze....good news!! warmer, dryer weather brought out 10 monarchs feeding on liatris on boulevard! About 2/3 smaller in size, 1/3 larger in size. All looked healthy & 'fresh' (not faded, no torn wings, vibrant color, veined). Were very intense on feeding and if disturbed, quickly went back to blossoms (no messin' around...!) Tomorrow the temp is supposed to be around 70F, but overcast so we'll see what that means for our winged friends!

NOTE: Around 8am CST I saw 1 monarch on the boulevard; clearly as it warmed up and dried up, the rest started venturing out. My observation time: I was watching for ___ hours and _10__ minutes.
