Monarch PEAK Migration

Date: 09/08/2010

Number: 1

Today we observed 100's of monarchs in groups of two - six. They were high in altitude, about 90% came from the north east and traveled south west. Some floundered here and there stopping for food.In the past 3 days we have seen some unusal large monarchs, yet we are still finding cats measuring 1/3" and some nearing j stage. 22 are pupues and 5 small larvae crunching on milkweed. The milkweed plants are dry and almost leafless.
Don't rush putting lawn chairs in storage. We used our reclining lawn chairs, before our necks become sore. My observation time: I was watching for 3___ hours and 0___ minutes.
