My 5th grade students were weeding & making observations in our school's butterfly garden this morning. Students observed at least 7 monarch butterflies - 2 of whom were mating. They found dozens of monarch & fritillary caterpillars. Those who were weeding observed a few monarch caterpillars on the ground. They rescued them by moving them to the milkweed. My observation time: 9:00 - 11:00 am I was watching for 2___ hours and ___ minutes.
