Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 09/09/2010

Number: 1

I have 2 feeders in my front yard and have noticed more hummers this year than last year. Probably at least a half a dozen or more that will fight over the feeders. There is one that has been coming regulary and I wish I was better at hummer identification, but it appears to be a male with dark shiny green wings, a white band around the neck, and a black head. I assume that some of the larger brown colored ones are females. They have been at my feeders on a regular basis since about June. In years past I have to change the sugar water in the feeder just because it gets old, but this year they seem to be drinking it up so I only have to refill it and I really enjoy watching them as its very relaxing.
