Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 09/09/2010

Number: 1

Did 3 different 'checks' today of butterflies on my boulevard: Noon, 2pm, 430pm CST. Temps btwn mid to upper 60's, overcast with periodic bursts of sun, light breeze, slight drizzle started today at 430. Each check was consistent count of 10-12 monarchs feeding on liatris. VERY, VERY intense on feeding. I'm sure they know at some level that the weather will soon change and they need to head on their way to Mexico so feeding is priority. Noticing very little 'dancing around' through the sideyard and swirling in the air...its all about juicin' up! Tomorrow temps are forecast to be in upper 60's / low 70's with some showers. Weekend in mid/upper 70's and sunny. Will report more tomorrow. pm from the 'butterfly cafe' in southwest minneapolis! My observation time: I was watching for ___ hours and _5__ minutes.
