Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 09/09/2010

Number: 1

I have been noticing that the hummer tube feeders have been used less and less. I also have seen a new female hummer feeding. They have been perching nearby to chase off the other hummers that come to feed. I had not seen any hummers all day so I assumed they started their migration back home. At around 4:30. I saw Helga the hummer feeding today around 5:00 pm est. I noticed they have been trying to feed on flowers more than nectar. Their bellies have gotten so big they look like they are going to burst. They do appear to be flying slower and slower too. I think that they will be leaving in the next couple of days for their trip back home.
