Monarch PEAK Migration

Date: 09/05/2010

Number: 1

I noticed a large flock of monarchs flying over the road near a local gas station at about 9:15 am. They all seemed to be coming from the same direction and flying to the same destination. I decided to sit over by the Wolf River and count how many passed by in 30 minutes. There, we witnessed many monarchs crossing the highway just to join the monarch "flight pattern". It was as though they were all following one another in a stright line. In total we saw well over 150 monarchs in the short amount of time we watched them. An absolutely amazing sight! My observation time: I was watching for ___ hours and 30 minutes.
