Spotted two monarchs near the Button bushes and willows in Mesquite Wash NE of the Phoenix area. One male looked fresh and new, in excellent condition. The other, gender unknown, was very faded with wings you could almost see through. A family was driving motorcycles through the area, then a government helicopter did a low fly-by -- and the monarchs scattered. My observation time: I was watching for ___ hours and ___ minutes.
