Monarch Fall Roost

Date: 09/10/2010

Number: 200

We were sitting outside on the patio at about 7 pm and hundreds of butterflies started landing in our trees I watched this for over an hour as I had never seen anything like this. By 8:30 they had all landed in the trees. I had to look it up because I didn't know what they were doing or that butterflies flew together in such large groups. It was one of the neatest things I have ever seen I hope I get to see them in the morning! My observation time: I was watching for _1__ hours and 10___ minutes.

Editor’s Note: We are estimating a minimum of 200 monarchs based on observer’s estimate of “hundreds.”
