Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 09/10/2010

Number: 1

Greetings again from the lovely Eastern Shore of Virginia! While visiting Assateague Island today, I observed 2 random monarchs about an hour apart...the first was heading south along the beach, the second was flying in no particular direction! There was quite a breeze from the north, and mild temps, too.
On the home front here in Onley, I have released 33 monarchs in the past 7 days...for a total of 54 so far this season. If all goes well, I have 49 more chrysalises (chrysalids?)to go and 2 caterpillars. Milkweed is about all gone in my yard! (I did also lose quite a few caterpillars and pupas to some sort of parasite.) My observation time: I was watching for ___ hours and ___ minutes.
