Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 09/09/2010

Number: 1

While gardening in the back yard I saw single hummers feeding quietly. I saw a juvenile leave the feeder & poke at a small bee on the nearby torch thonia. About 5 minutes later I heard a hummer near me, but couldn't see it. Then I caught a blur of color at knee level & saw the hummer chasing the bee, flying between me & the watering can. I've never see such manic behavior. Beside the feeder & the sunflowers we still have wild bergamont, Joe Pye & a butterfly bush, so there's more than enough to share!
