I have two caterpillars still eating milkweed and six chrysalises, five due to emerge today 9/11. On 9/10 one caterpillar just changed into the chrysalis. It took all day hanging in the J position before it changed. I wonder if the cool weather stunts the entire process. I have more monarchs than I expected to see this summer. Since there were terrible rains in Mexico last year and many died, perhaps we are still having a successful breeding season. My observation time: I was watching for ___5 hours and ___30 minutes.
