We saw a single monarch on Isle au Haut, one of a chain of small islands off the coast of Acadia National Park in Maine. The butterfly rested for several minutes on the beach rocks less than a yard in front of us, and then appeared to fly in a general southerly direction, toward another island in the chain. My observation time: I was watching for approx. 1_ hour and __0_ minutes.
