While working outside in the flowers I have found 5 caterpillars that did not go into a chrysalis still hanging upside down and dead. Also found were 6 chrysalis' that were alright. I do not spray my yard. Why are almost half dying at this stage? Also found one monarch that is deformed and unable to fly. There were 4-5 healthy monarchs feeding or laying eggs at any one time. I've not seen this happen before in the last few years of watching. They feed on butterfly plant My observation time: I was watching for __1_ hours and __30_ minutes.
