The past 7 years We have been collecting Monarch eggs and caterpillers from Milkweed we grow in our garden and also in the wild (farmers fields). I started bringing them in to help them survive from the parasites which lay their eggs on the caterpiller, then it dies. I'm happy to report that, thus far this year, we have successfully raised and released 298 as of today, with many more to go yet. We keep them in mesh cages until they emerge from their chryslis and their wings dry. When they start to become anxious, we take them out on our deck and allow them to fly away when they are ready. What a GREAT feeling it is to see them fly around, and feed on our Budellia Bushes.
