Juvenile and female hummers are still visiting my feeders, although there are fewer than last week. Squabbles and territorial behavior are still in evidence - including an attempt by one (obvious) youngster to challenge one of our cats. I hope he makes it safely down south ! This has been the busiest fall migration period in terms of the number of migrants passing through in the 5 years I have been observing and attracting hummers to my yard. Long Island is off the beaten path for migration so this is a special treat !
