Monarch PEAK Migration

Date: 09/08/2010

Number: 1

While visiting Assateague Island the week of Sept 5 through the 11, saw several small waves of butterflies along the beach. Wed the 8th was probably the largest amount of waves. They were all over the place -- all day long -- heading south. I had never seen the actual migration taking place but had heard/and or read about it; so it was exciting to actually see them migrating. Iwasn't sure how far they migrated, but I knew it was pretty far south. It was fun to be a part of this year's migration.
