Monarch Adult Sighted

Number: 1

Unloading my truck when my husband asked about a butterfly on our butterfly bushes. Tiger Swallowtail. "Is that one a Monarch?" "Probably not, I said, "since we only saw one last year and they just don't seem to be migrating over the mountains." The closer I looked and ,"WOW, a Monarch!" It was a female on one of the cluster flowers of the butterfly bush. Maybe this year will be different; they will be "commin' around the mountain...". The weather has been unusually warm - in the mid-eighties. The day was sunny and cloudless. "She" stayed on the flowers for 15 minutes agressively scuking up the nectar. I wish I had my net and a tag this year. I did get a picture!
