Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 09/15/2010

Number: 1

This afternoon I released our first monarch butterfly to come out of its chrysalis here in the library media center. My 4th graders were present and were very excited to watch such a miraculous event. It emerged about 9:50 am and is a female. I carried it outside on my finger and it walked on to a butterfly bush in front of the school. It left the bush, flew around a bit before resting on the lawn. I got it on my finger again and returned it to the butterfly bush. Hopefully this butterfly will make it to Mexico!
