Signs of Fall

In past years we have seen a wave of robins heading south. Sitting on our patio at precisily the right evening we have seen a wave of hundreds of robins fly over. But this evening we saw scattered groups of robins, from two or three to a couple of dozen at a time fly over. No time were there more than a couple dozen together. It may be because there was a thunder storm coming in from the west and, if there was a large group earlier today, up north, they split up and headed east and south east. Anyway, for a couple of hours I sat and watched small groups of robins fly south. They were most of the time a hundred or two hundred yards east of us and although I tried to get some pictures I don't think any of them turned out too good. I will download them tomorrow and if any are good, will pass them on. A side note, one robin sat in a tree on the fringe of my yard for 10 or 15 minutes and then when about a dozen robins appeared somewhat to the east of my yard he took off and joined them. I wondered why he was just sitting there, but then decided he was waiting for some friends.
