Monarch PEAK Migration

Date: 09/16/2010

Number: 1

The "monarch march" appears to be in full swing. We did not have a large number of monarchs this summer as we had in the past, but beginning last week we saw them start floating in. Yesterday they were on the property by the 100's-too numerous to count. From early morning to dusk. This is right on time with prior years, since 2005. We've seen this activity as late as end Sept early october in 2005 and 2006. But in the last 3 years our journal indicates September 15th being "the" day of the big march. My observation time: I was watching for 10 hours. I don't know quite how to answer this as we formally and informally watch throughout the day-from 8am to about 6pm.
