While working in my rose garden this afternoon, a female flew up and hovered about 3 feet from my face. I said "hello little one", at which time she settled on a fence post about 4 feet away from me; close enough that I could see her rapid heart beat. After I talked to her for a minute or so, she decided to resume feeding on my impatiens and then flew away.
They are obviously still moving through Minnesota on their journey south.
