Spent all day yesterday (9/15/10) visiting tiny Tangier Island in the middle of the Chesapeake Bay. I observed 3 monarchs in flight, (2 along the beach and 1 inland on narrow Main Street). For those who don't know, Tangier Island is accessible only by boat or private plane and has about 500 resident who get around mostly on foot, bikes or golf carts! Guess it's a good resting place for wayward monarchs getting across the water, although the ones I saw were not resting!(It is a charming, delightful destination for humans, too!) My observation time: I was watching for ___ hours and ___ minutes.
