Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 09/17/2010

Number: 1

I started seeing 6-8 hummingbirds (all ruby throated, I think) at my feeder over the last week. Sometimes twice that many. They emptied out one of my full 4 cup feeders in one day ealier this week. They must be hungry. There was one little guy who was just sitting at the feeder as his fellow hummers came and went. I was even able to get close enough that I could have reached out and touched him and he never moved. I didn't want to stress him out by catching him in hand, though. I think he was napping. Long trip was tiring, I guess. Hopefully this weekend I will have more time to watch and count.
