Finally a very low count season send us some migration for the butterflies. temperature today 86 degrees, wind from SW, about 12mph. Our first batch of monarchs found our field of wildflowers this afternoon at 3:00pm. count roughly 75 in one hours time.
This year we have had the least sightings of monarchs and larvae found in 3 years. I really thought they may miss us on the way south also. I have watched all summer, and walked the last 2 weeks waiting for today, most spotted before were 2-3 a day. For us no roost yet, but I heard 20 miles from us the cedar trees have been full the last 2 nights. My observation time: I was watching for _2__ hours and _0__ minutes.
