Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 08/24/2010

Number: 1

During the week of August 22-29th of 2010. We spent the week at our family cottage located on the shores of lake Huron in Point Clark, Ontario. The beach and our property had several hundred Monarch Butterflies flying around this location. We are not sure if they were on the journey back to Mexico or if they mate in the forest over the summer. If one were to Google Earth this location one would notice several hundred acres of undisturbed forest. The developers are chomping at bit to destroy this forest habitat and build residential homes. If the Monarchs are spending the summer and mating in this forest then it should be protected. My observation time: I was watching for ___ hours and ___ minutes.
