Today, another male monarch hatched; yesterday there were three females...very strong westerly winds in the evenings but hopefully these monarchs will be able to make their journey.
I have six more chrysalids, that I know of, and two fifth instar caterpillars that may not be able to make the journey in time unless the weather remains stable.
This year has been the best for monarchs in the last 12 years that I have been blessed with monarchs arriving in the spring!
It is not a surprise that there are so many monarchs arriving here, since I have at least 600+ plants in my suburban westfort garden.
