Monarch Fall Roost

Date: 09/12/2010

Number: 500

September 23
I don't see as much now, I feel these storms that keep coming down from the North is making them migrate South from my home. Where I once saw hundreds per tree is now getting down to less than a hundred.

September 12
The weekend before(9/12 estimated) and this weekend (9/18) I notice hundreds per tree at my house of Monarchs settling in for the night. The last weekend I thought I had dead leaves on my trees in the morning till the sun shined on them and them monarchs flew away. Today (9/18) as evening approached and a storm was coming upon us I went out the took many pic and video of the roosting in my red maples and pin oaks. And it looks like they were enjoying the leaves too. As per branch at the tip I saw groups of dozens and it was 5:00 PM. It was getting real dark because a storm was happening.

Editor's Note: This observer did not specify the number of monarchs present. We entered '500' in the number field based on observer’s “hundreds per tree.”
