I tag monarchs for Monarch Watch. I just had Harrisville State Park certified as a Waystation. I listed all flowers, plants, and milkweed. This park has monarchs that stop on their journey to Mexico by using the Lake Huron shoreline and trees within the park as a resting place, shelter, and feeding. I pull up old milkweed stalks in the winter and plant flowers for nectar for the butterflies. I give classes at the park about the monarch butterfly in August and September. We tag and release monarchs. The children love it (adults, too!).
