Clearville Park is located on the north shore of Lake Erie at the Orford bluffs, just east of Rondeau Provincial Park. Today started out sunny but turned partly cloudy and then mostly cloudy around 11:00am. Temp was 64F, winds calm. 500 butterflies counted in 10 minutes all flying in the same direction - south west toward Pt Pelee which is 50 miles away. Pt. Pelee is were the Monarchs cross Lake Erie to Ohio. All butterflies were above 100 feet altitude with many butterflies much, much higher than that. Very few at ground level this morning. Some were so high they appeared as specks moving against the clouds. My observation time: I was watching for 10 minutes.
