Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 09/20/2010

Number: 1

Since siting my first ruby-throated hummer in early August, they have been passing through in groups. But in the last week they have stacked up here and I am having to fill my 8 feeders every day, sometimes twice. This is the most I have had at one time this year (had a lot more last year), and expect them to stay for a while considering all the rain coming in from the Gulf. I have three feeders right outside my "office" window, and one particular hummer perched trying to protect all three at once. A friend from out of town who had never paid attention to the hummingbirds got spooked when he went on the front deck and was bombarded with all of them whizzing by his head. Made a convert out of him. Took some of my extra feeders home with him.
