6:45 pm - Taking a cart to the compost through our wooded area and spied a Monarch gliding. I looked up into the trees above me and low and behold there was one that had just emerged! His wings were not quite ready yet so he was just hanging by the chrysallis. I hope they find enough to eat. It has been hot and dry with no rain for several weeks and flowers and butterfly bushes are waining. My observation time: I was watching for ___ hours and _15__ minutes.
